Summer Wars have won the Animation of the Year award at the 33th Japan Academy Prize on Friday. Competing with the awards were strong competitors such as Hideaki Anno and Khara’s Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance (Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Ha), Kôzô Kusuba and Shinei Animation’s Doraemon: Shin Nobita no Uchū Kaitakushi, Shinsuke Sato and Production I.G’s Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror.
